Most people, at some point in life, could use a little backup. Sometimes life shifts beneath you and the footing you once had just isn’t there anymore.
It is normal and healthy to seek out support when processing a challenging situation or struggling with something personal. Along side community, spirituality, cultural and movement practices, individual therapy can be a part of how you take care of yourself and grow.
Going to therapy doesn’t mean something about you is wrong or broken. You do not have to talk about your feelings at nauseum, blame others for your problems, or change who you are. And if you decide it’s not for you, you can stop at any time.
My advice to you as you look for a therapist - it is all about fit. Research shows that the number one indicator of positive therapeutic outcome is the quality of the relationship between patient and therapist. So first, schedule a few consultation calls and pick someone you vibe with and can really talk to. That gets you a lot of the way there.

In sessions, we’ll talk about what has been happening in your life and what you are struggling with.
When you are ready, we can go beneath the surface, exploring the things that you may have trouble discussing in other settings.
I flexibly apply what makes sense for you and your situation. I’ll leverage different modalities that are relevant, may be helpful and/or that you are open to.
Therapy is a partnership, but ultimately you are in the drivers seat of your own life, and you know yourself best. We’ll work together to grow closer towards the life you want to live, and the goals you want to reach.
This is internal work that leads to external results. Over time, many people who work with me find more clarity, self-compassion, acceptance and empowerment.

Therapy lasts as long as it is helpful for you. Some people feel they have what they need after 6-8 sessions. Others see their therapists for several years.
Many people begin seeing a therapist once a week, or once bi-weekly.
Ending therapy is a good thing, and expected.
